Varied Help For PTSD Sufferers

October 17, 2011

I was reading an article in the Parade Section of the Orange County Register this past Sunday, October 16th, 2011 entitled “Hope Grows Here” by Jerry Camarillo Dunn Jr. I would guess if you are interested in the entire article you could research it at www.OCRegister.com .

In the article it talks about a soldier returning home from fighting in the War and finding solace from his PTSD in farming his land.  He has made his farm available to otherPTSD military returning Veterans

If this sounds like something you feel you could benefit from, at the bottom of the article there were two sites listed.

Farmer-Veteran-Coalition at  www.farmvetco.org and Work Vessels for Vetrans at www.wvfv.net

This got me thinking of all the varied things that people are offering to try and help with the PTSD issue.  I will continue to offer interesting ones as I see or read about them.  If anyone knows of some PTSD Sufferer program that might benefit any PTS D sufferer or his/her PTSD spouse and children please be sure to write and tell me about it and I will post it on the site.  So in saying this, here are a few additional ones that people have sent already.

This is a Time Magazine article that talks about a PTSD victim who found great comfort and some PTSD healing through dog ownership.

There is a PTSD victim who has used yoga to find inner peace.

These three entries are varied and of course the writers swear to the peace they have received from their PTSD suffering.  Most conventional thinking is that the” talking cure” is the most effective cure.  That would indicate the best solution to your PTSD problem will come in the form of seeing a mental health care provider.  In conjunction with this the use of the Military PTSD Forum will be helpful.  You, your PTSD spouse and children are all welcome to post their PTSD stories here.  There are no restrictions on the size of your comments, how often you comment and/or censuring of your feelings and experiences.
